Murder-suicide ruled in Benton County case

UPDATE: 11 a.m. March 8, 2021: The Jackson County medical examiner has ruled that a father and his two young sons who were dead last week died from gunshot wounds.

Missouri Highway Patrol spokesman Bill Lowe says Mayson and Kaiden Peak were shot to death and their father, Darrell Peak, then shot himself. The three were found dead in a shack in Benton County on Monday.

The three went missing Feb. 25.

 

BENTON COUNTY, Mo. — A man who was last seen in Warsaw with his two young sons Thursday has been found dead in Benton County.

Darrell Peak had been charged with parental kidnapping after Peak and his 3 and 4 year old sons Mayson and Kaiden, left their home in Pleasant Hope. Darrell Peak was reported to have been armed.  They were seen that evening in Warsaw and Peak’s abandoned vehicle was found Thursday night.

The county sheriff says all three were found dead together inside a structure Monday.  The cause of death was not stated in the information release.
